This project had several directives from the homeowner, most importantly that the kitchen be redesigned in the limited footprint of the existing space. The new kitchen had to be highly functional for the recently retired homeowner that was enjoying his newly free time by attending cooking school. He requested an open area for plates so that meals could be plated easily. Also on his lists of requests were appliances that would respond well to his various cooking needs. He requested maximum storage in the limited space but to retain an open feeling.
We redesigned the location of all the appliances and cabinetry with the exception of the sink. We were able to maximize the square footage of the granite countertops as well as the cabinet storage area. The homeowner is a traditionalist so we installed custom cabinets in a natural cherry stain as well as cabinets that were painted then glazed to compliment that genre. We selected a downdraft ventilation system for the GE induction cooktop that allows for an open feeling and a decorative space above the cooking area. The built in Kitchenaid refrigerator, Dacor ovens, and an integrated Miele dishwasher complete the appliances selected for the homeowner. Out of photo range are built-in, wood framed dual U-line wine caddies for his extensive wine collection. Wood floors were installed to connect seamlessly with the other living spaces. The window treatment compliments the French inspired furnishings throughout the home.
Our Bachelor Cook's kitchen in his Napa condominium was a huge success!
