Coombsville Residence - Living Room

A partial wall with posts originally divided the living room from the entry stairs. There was a mirrored backed recessed area with glass shelves next to the old fireplace. The house had strong masculine lines but the added moldings, fireplace surround, furnishings and window treatments were all were trying to make it something that it wasn't.

JD Design + Build designed the architectural details to support the 'bones' of the residence. By removing the niche, cladding the fireplace wall in large format honed Jerusalem Gold stone tiles and adding recessed cans to wash the focal wall with light  we were able to set the stage for the graphic metal detail. The fireplace wall detail is a mix of a horizontal piece of brushed nickel and a reverse  tapered vertical piece of steel. The design was fabricated by Copper Iron Designs in Napa, California.
