The footprint of this room remained the same but the character has changed dramatically. Prior to the remodel of this Napa Valley, California home, this space had a freestanding wood burning stove on a painted brick raised hearth. There were beams in the already low ceiling room, an accordion door and a low header at the opening leading to the main entry of the home. A nondescript cabinet offset to the right of the present fireplace did little to add to the ambiance.
JS Design + Build installed Brazilian cherry flooring used throughout much of the home. Custom cabinets with 'floating' shelves above allow storage of the media equipment as well as display of some of the homeowners many books. The flat screen television is mounted above the Heat 'n Glo fireplace which is surrounded by a leather textured black granite from Fox Marble and Granite in San Francisco. Our client provided the area rug which adds to the warmth to the space. Phillip-Jeffries Ltd. natural wall covering creates a lovely texture and soft color to the walls. Kravet linen draperies are installed on Robert Allen's Modulo drapery hardware. Although a whole house project like this is a lengthy process, our client is delighted and felt it was worth the wait.
