Why Choose Design + Build?

The name says it all! We create the design, then build it for you. Every aspect of every project is maintained in-house, along with our trusted trade partners. Our team develops construction drawings, provides a specific scope of work, selects all of the finish materials and creates a complete fixed fee estimate before any work begins. You know exactly what you are getting up front! There will never be any surprises. We are your single point of contact and take full responsibility over your project.

Do I need to get my own building permit(s)?

No. We jump through hoops so you don’t have to! Our production manager will meet with the municipality, whether city or county, we pull all the necessary permits and meet with the planning department. Once the project begins, we will also schedule all of the city or county inspections and meet with building inspectors during each phase of your project. We’ve got this!

Who is the general contractor?

JS Design & Build is a fully licensed, insured and bonded general contractor. You can find us on the California Contractors State Licensing Board (I will hyperlink to the CCSLC site) by searching with our contractor license number #832590

Will you work with my architect, general contractor or interior designer?

No. We are a fully licensed, insured and bonded general contractor. We only work with our team and vetted trusted trade partners. We assume all liability for our team and perform the work to the highest standards. Our team is on your project since day one!

Do you have your own crew?

We have our own field crew that handles all of the demo, framing and finish carpentry. Our foreman has been with the company for over ten years and is a highly skilled craftsman. We use our vetted and trusted partners for all other trades. Our partnerships also extend to our reliable roofers, concrete subcontractors, exterior landscapers and more.

Who orders the finish materials (plumbing, electrical, etc.)

During the estimating phase, we select all of the finish materials that are in line with your aesthetic and budget. Once approved, our office administrator immediately begins ordering construction materials, schedules & receives deliveries, conducts material inventory and QC’s every item.

How does a Fixed Fee contract work?

You have complete control in your investment. Our design and estimating team work in unison to hone in on the budget range by closely examining the exact scope of work in order to develop a comprehensive singe fixed fee. We don’t believe in allowances or change orders, we believe in a fixed fee for every project. It is an all inclusive method. We provide the construction plans, specifications on all finish materials and a schedule of the work. Your contract price will never change and we provide a payment schedule from start to finish. You know exactly what you are getting, up front!

What areas do you perform work?

We focus on serving Napa & Sonoma counties. From the city of Napa, points north and adjacent counties, depending on the scope of work.
