JS Design designed a new kitchen for me that included the removal of an existing wall. They also installed new hardwood floors throughout my downstairs, painted my entire downstairs, and retextured my ceiling. JS Design worked very hard with me to stay within my budget and yet provide me with everything I wanted in my new kitchen and my entire downstairs upgrade. In working with JS Design + Build, I am, so far, the only person I know who has worked with a contracting company that did everything they said they were going to do, on budget, and on time (somewhat ahead of time, even). JS Design + Build are the only contracting I've ever worked with or even heard about that wasn't a total disaster to work with. They made the experience of a kitchen and downstairs remodel so pleasurable that I'm actually looking forward to having them tear up my main bathroom for a complete remodel.
In working with JS Design + Build the process started with a design meeting where Judy Schindler (the owner of the company) came to my house to speak with me extensively about what I wanted. She took measurements and then her team created a 3D mock up of what my new kitchen would look like, based on what I described as well as Judy's design suggestions. The extra money we paid for this initial design process, which wasn't that much in the grand scheme of everything I got done, was absolutely worth every penny. I am only going to have my dream kitchen built once, so the little bit of extra money and time put in getting these 3D mock ups made all the difference in the world. We could then totally visualize what the finished product would look like. This helped us make critical decisions up front, which ended up saving a lot of money in the end. Once the design work is finished, Judy's crew starts the job. Her crew showed up at the same time every day and worked M-F, all day, on my job. They didn't come and go, giving no explanation for when they'd ever be back, which has been my experience working with other contractors. Judy's crew finished ahead of the six week schedule outlined in the contract.
The way I worked with Judy is that I used both Houzz and Pinterst to flag looks that I liked. I shared my "dream kitchen" boards with her so that she got notified of all the colors I was picking, the countertop styles, cabinet styles, appliance styles, types of hardwood floors, etc. She would then bring samples to me that resembled the material and styles I picked. For someone like myself who has never been involved in a remodel, the process of working with Judy saved me months of research and trying to figure out where to go to get the materials I wanted.
I live in a condo complex, and the kitchen JS Design + Build did for me ended up becoming the talk of the complex. Neighbors I didn't even know I had would run in to me and ask me if at some point they come by and take a look at my new kitchen. I was so happy to show off my new kitchen to anyone who wanted to see it. Judy's crew finished the job about 6 months ago, but I'm still happy to show off my kitchen. Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about my experience working with this company.
